Manchester’s event is being held in The People’s History Museum in Spinningfields and is on until Sunday 4th Dec. We’re here today (Thurs 1st) until 8pm and then again tomorrow from 11-4pm. Crafts in the Pen, Skipton

So today was day 1 of my biggest craft fair to date, Crafts in the Pen at Skipton. 170 different artists and crafts people have turned the cattle auction market into a bustling Christmas village. And with temperatures inside barely above freezing and the deafening sound of hail on the tin roof, it certainly put the Winter into the festivities. So, not only is this my largest fair yet, it’s also my first overnighter (Staying at the lovely Throstle Nest Farm B&B), it’s almost exactly one year since I started Kat Pearson Designs. It is the perfect opportunity to…

A Day At Kelloggs

I spent the day today at Kelloggs, Talbot Rd in Manchester, showing off my Christmas goodies to a whole new audience.
It went really well with my new framed prints and pocket mirrors proving to be good sellers. Having stayed up late last night finishing off new additions to my cat collectibles, my latest cat was snapped up in the first 20 minutes! Managed to grab a quick pic of him before he went off to his new home 😸
Not the best pic, but a record of a new colour option (ginger), he certainly proved I need to…

Nov & Dec Craft Fair Dates:

It is also the start of a really busy Christmas season for KPD, with lots of markets and fairs lined up (which means lots and lots of making – w’hoo!!!) as well as all the online orders to fulfill.

So where am I going to be over the next few weeks…

Putting the tradition back into Christmas

Folk Style Nativity Set by Kat Pearson Designs

I know it’s August and that for many Christmas is a long way off but for those makers that specialise in seasonal products, the summer sees the start of our busiest season. In between making for the normal summer fairs and shows, we are also planning and designing ahead, getting our Christmas designs ready to go on sale.

As well as my cat designs, I also design and make bespoke nativity sets. As a child, seeing the large nativity scene appear in church, closely followed by a plethora of fairy lights (which I’m still obsessed with!) was always more of…

Marketing vs Making

Like many crafts people and artists who decide to start selling their work, I was really looking forward to spending my days drawing, designing, painting, sculpting, etc, in other words doing something I loved. I knew I might have to do some fairs, that I’d need to set up a website and probably upload a lot of my designs and resources to online selling sites. I knew I would have to contact certain groups of target customers directly and I thought it would probably be of benefit to have a business Facebook page and Twitter feed. I took a…
