NEW YEAR – NEW YORK PT2 “FUNERALS & FLY-BYS”

So, we had arrived in New York late the previous January afternoon and, due to the tall buildings, it starts getting dark relatively early. For that reason we hadn’t really had chance to look out of the hotel window yet. Day 1 dawned with beautiful clear blue skies and bright sunshine. So far the city hadn’t felt as ‘different’ as I’d would have expected, being in a different country and all. But, looking across those rooftops,…

NEW YEAR – NEW YORK (Part 1) “New York via Cycle!”

First, and foremost, I know it’s April and this blog about New York was supposed to be written and uploaded back in January. But more on that later…

Like many people, New York is somewhere I’ve always wanted to visit. My first real memory of wanting to go stems back to the mid 80’s and hearing about places like The Limelight, Studio 54 and seeing New York fashion and loft apartments splashed across glossy…

New Work

Just finished my first official cat portrait (as opposed to paintings of generic cats). Really chuffed with how it came out! Client has opted for one of the more watercolour style ones, whereas the grungy frame version seems more popular. Took a bit longer than planned but hopefully the client will let me sell additional prints/cards from it to cover the additional time. Set myself the challenge of trying complete as much as possible of this in Illustrator so, whilst it is a digital painting, it has all been drawn from scratch and the initial painting features hundreds of…

ETSY MADE LOCAL – MANCHESTER – Part 2 *UPDATED*

**UPDATED** – Finally got round to adding all the photos – sorry for the delay!

Ok, so I’m a bit rubbish at this blogging lark! So much for writing a full review of this weekend’s Etsy Made Local event at the People’s history Museum.

Rather than being rubbish, it’d be fairer to say my time management needs a bit of work. Having spent the majority of the day finishing orders for my customers at Kelloggs, along with traipsing across the fields to our favourite farm shop to order the turkey for Christmas, it’s now after 10pm and I’ve only just finished…

ETSY Made Local- Manchester Day 1 and 2: Part 1

So, after the freezing cold of Skipton the other week, December saw a complete change of venue with the first Manchester Etsy Made Local Christmas Fair.

The considerably warmer People’s History Museum in Spinningfields was to be our home this time, when I, and and approx 30+ other makers, set up shop in The Engine Room. Designed to tie in with Small Business Saturday (Dec 3rd), Etsy Made Local is a national event with regional Etsy teams holding markets for Etsy shop owners across the country. Manchester’s was scheduled for 4 days, Session 1 being Thurs/Fri and Session 2 Sat/Sun. With a…

Crafts Fairs & Handmade Markets: Etsy Local

Today is day one of Etsy Local: Manchester. This national event sees Etsy Teams from across the country organising local Handmade markets, giving customers the chance to meet local Etsy makers and see their work first hand. Manchester’s event is being held in The People’s History Museum in Spinningfields and is on until Sunday 4th Dec. We’re here today (Thurs 1st) until 8pm and then again tomorrow from 11-4pm. On Saturday and Sunday it’s all change with lots of new makers for the weekend sessions so make sure to pop back. Had a good day so far. Lots…

Crafts in the Pen, Skipton

So today was day 1 of my biggest craft fair to date, Crafts in the Pen at Skipton. 170 different artists and crafts people have turned the cattle auction market into a bustling Christmas village. And with temperatures inside barely above freezing and the deafening sound of hail on the tin roof, it certainly put the Winter into the festivities. So, not only is this my largest fair yet, it’s also my first overnighter (Staying at the lovely Throstle Nest Farm B&B), it’s almost exactly one year since I started Kat Pearson Designs. It is the perfect opportunity to…

A Day At Kelloggs

I spent the day today at Kelloggs, Talbot Rd in Manchester, showing off my Christmas goodies to a whole new audience.
It went really well with my new framed prints and pocket mirrors proving to be good sellers. Having stayed up late last night finishing off new additions to my cat collectibles, my latest cat was snapped up in the first 20 minutes! Managed to grab a quick pic of him before he went off to his new home 😸
Not the best pic, but a record of a new colour option (ginger), he certainly proved I need to…
